When The Curtain Falls | Book Review

This book follows two storylines, but through the same stage play. The first is in 1952 and the other in the present. The first is Fawn and Walter whilst the other is Olive and Oscar in the present day. The storylines follow what happened during the same production being run nearly 70 years apart, though there are magic and ghosts throughout.

The story within itself wasn't bad, but think it needed to be fleshed out in a few parts, especially the modern day one. It made me feel like I was watching it rather than experience it. If it was improved upon the book could have been one of my favourites this year. Because it wasn't that fleshed out I was very distracted and was easily confused by it, though the 1952 plot was much better and I enjoyed that part of the book.

The dialogue was ok but could have been a little better to help the book along a little bit.

I didn't care much for many of the characters, They almost all fell flat and were very two dimensional. I didn't care for Oscar too much even though he was one of the nicer characters, though I loved Fawn and Walters storyline and found theirs much better fleshed out.

I think Carrie could have done better with this book given that her other books are considerably better than this one. I hope that next time she takes her time and realises that quality is much better than quality with her books. I can only give this 2 stars on Goodreads and can't recommend this one, but will
probably read her next book.

The Missing Girl Review

The story was just ok, it was interesting but dragged out a little. I was sometimes confused as it was sometimes confused by who was who.

For the most part it was easy to read through and the dialogue was good and helped with the story a lot.

I wasn't attached to any of the characters so didn't really care too much about them. Though some were ok overall and I thought Martha was a very weird kid.

The antagonist in this one was a naturally dislikable character anyway, but I never really thought they were capable of what they did whilst reading the book.

Overall it was just ok and enjoyed some of the plot points, the ending is
really nice. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars on Goodreads, but can't really recommend.

You're The One That I want | Review

Best friends since childhood, Maddy, Rob and Ben thought their friendship was unbreakable. But love changes everything.

Maddy loves Rob and will soon marry him, but one night at University Ben drunkenly tells her how he feels. Now Maddy has a choice to make.

I enjoyed the story, it was a typical love triangle (which I don't always like, but Giovanna pulled it off) and it also had a will she won't she kind of vibe to it too. It was very quick and easy to get into, I was also interested throughout and wanted to know more.

All of Gi's books are easy to read and the dialogue was just as good to read. Sometimes it wasn't even the writing, but the inner monologue of some of the characters that was very well done. It kept the pace of the book very good.

You can easily relate to the characters and can feel sorry for them in the book sometimes. Having compassion for the characters I think shows how well it was written.

I found all of them interesting to read about, though there was were some stupid decisions made in the book, but I think it makes them more relatable and brings you closer to them.

I can give this 4 stars on Goodreads and can highly recommend.

The Death Of Mrs Westaway Review

Hal receives letters leaving her something in a will, hoping to get money to pay off a threatening loan shark. She hopes to use her skills as a tarot reader and cold reader to get some of the money despite thinking she was sent the letter by mistake.

I loved this story, it has me gripped from the start. I was as amazing if not better than her previous books. It was well paced and easy to read too and all done in her usual style. Though I did figure out one of the plot twists, I didn't take away from the story and loved it just as much and was still terrified for Hal in the last few chapters.

The main character was great and loved her from the start. A lot of the other characters were interesting to read about as much as Hal. Mrs Warren was very interesting and tried to warn her to stay well away despite her being a very cold person.

It was a great read and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it. I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads and definitely
 recommend.

Animal Farm Review (spoilers)

"All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others". Although about political suppression, it also makes me think of slavery.

This book is about the animals of Manor Farm (AKA Animal Farm), who are sick of the humans treating them like trash and overworking them. As consequence, a revolution occurred and the animals overthrew the owner of the farm. This book is about the aftermath of all of this.

The story was great, it was very interesting and it was very interesting to see things to go full circle. The animals who end up oppressed by humans get oppressed by the pigs and they end up being indistinguishable from the humans. It also shows communism working.

The writing is great, it's short, quick and very easy to read. It isn't too complex so that you can understand it fully, to make you understand the plot more in-depth.

I loved most of the characters, the pigs and humans grow to be one in the same and I hated both by the end. They end up as greedy as the humans so there is no difference between the two. By the end they become one, mimicking Stalin and Hitler who were corrupt and used their own people for their own gain.

I found this to be a great read and is a great look into communism and totalitarian regimes.  I gave this four stars on Goodreads.

I really enjoyed this one, I liked how the book still resembles how the world is pretty much the same

I loved this one and think it added a lot to the Harry Potter series. 

• A Shade Of Vampire 61 - Bella Forrest 5*

I enjoyed this and loved that the original cast in the book are back in the series more.
