Look Who's Back | Review

I couldn't finish it. I found it to be very boring and couldn't find the humour that I was promised. It makes me wonder if that very same humour was lost in translation? 

Unfortunately I think my standards were to high for this one and had to put it down. It's a shame, there was a lot of promise with this book too.

I don't really have anything else to say since I didn't manage to finish it, but what I did read got 1 star on Goodreads.

Ready Player One | Review

For most of the first half of this book, I was unimpressed. The writing was flat, and the story was unremarkable. I wasn't even slightly impressed until halfway through when the plot and pace began to speed up. Up to that point it was an absolute waste of time. 

There is a "relationship" in this book that I didn't find to be particularly necessary, especially since it didn't make any difference to the plot of the book, or to the main character, Wade, until the last two chapters of the book.

Overall this book was pretty basic and very slow going until halfway through. Even then you have to be over 30 to really get a full understanding of all of the 80's reference info dumping. This book ended up with 3 stars on Goodreads, only because It had a lot of potential, but didn't meet expectations.

Beautiful Creatures | Review

The story with Beautiful Creatures is actually better than I expected it to be. Though I did think the pacing was a little off and with improvement, this book could be unbelievable. In general this book was easy to read and when things happened, they HAPPENED. Though again with pacing, it could be even   better. 

The writing was very easy to understand and read, helping to get through the book a little quicker (always a good thing right?) Although easy for me to read, it should be easy enough for a 14 year old to get through. The dialogue was sometimes cheesy, but for a book aimed at 14 year old's, what can I really expect? Overall though the writing does help.

I liked most of the characters except the ones we're meant to hate of course. Though I didn't find the cheerleaders to be very authentic. They are the stereotypical bitchy cheerleaders, but too unrealistic for my taste.

Overall the book was pretty good, apart from obvious pacing issues, though it still gets a solid 4 stars and can recommend for sure. 

Four A Divergent Collection | Review

Well, I don't really know what to say about this one, other than that most of the book was pretty awesome. Though I did get a little impatient with the last short story. 

All in all it was a pretty solid book, with excellent short stories (of which I usually don't like), but has finished the series with something that I'd rather have had. Unlike the last book this one wasn't at all disappointing. This one certainly gets a strong 4 stars on Goodreads.
