The Muse | Review

Disclaimer: I received this book for free for an honest review.

I unfortunately didn't like this one. I found this book to be very confusing, I don't know if it's that It's an uncorrected proof or not, but it just didn't work. What I managed to read of this book, I only enjoyed half of it, if all of the book was like that, I'd have given it all 5 glorious stars.

I wish I liked this book more than I did. If only I liked the the 1930's part of the book as well as the '60's part. I loved Odelle and Lawrie and thought they were adorable and easily likeable, but I found the 1930's narrative to come out of nowhere and didn't really make much sense to me. Not that the characters weren't any good, I just think with the confusion I was disorientated enough to not really care.

I much preferred The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton which received a 5 star review. Unfortunately I didn't care for this one and can only give it 1 star (Goodreads). That's not to say it's a bad book, I just didn't care for it very much.

On The Other Side | Review

All I have to say, is wow, just wow!!

It took me a little while to get into, but once I was in, that was it and I was amazed, enthralled and utterly enchanted.

I absolutely loved Evie so much. She was kind and so well developed she was practically gorgeous. Her relationship within this book was (for once) realistic and I loved that. It wasn't rushed of forced and made flowed naturally.

Love, love, love this book 4.5 stars on Goodreads If I could, I can't recommend highly enough.

Zlata's Diary | Review

This book is about an 11 year old girl who lived through the Bosnian war, writing down her thoughts for nearly 3 years.

This is the 2nd time I've read this book, the first time when I was 7, so understandingly, most of the content I'd either forgotten, or not understood. I enjoyed the book the first time I read it, but this time not so much.

This time I found it to be very repetitive and very boring. I wasn't particularly attached or bothered by the events in the book this time. I think had Zlata been slightly older her writing would have been better, but with her being so young, the writing although clear, wasn't brilliant.

Overall I found the book to be just OK and gave it 3 stars on Goodreads.

Hey guys, so recently I have decided that I'm going to do a book buying ban. I plan to do this for 3 months from July to October before buying any more books (preferably 1 per 10 books). So, I will hopefully not be buying any books for the next couple of months.

So far I have read:

Love From Boy by Roald Dahl

Clan Of Novaks by Bella Forrest

Odd Habit by Maya Goode

We Were Liars | Review

We Were Liars is one of those books I'm struggling to review. I'm tempted just to say I've read it and leave it at that.

Though what I can say is that I didn't find the book gripping as such, though the characters were developed and has a dramatic twist. The author uses an impressive technique, but found it difficult to follow and ended up confused.

Though I wasn't completely convinced by this book I'd still like to thank E.Lockhart for trying, this one gets 3 stars on Goodreads.
